“Don’t rent a Drain Snake for $40, Just get a professional  for $50?”

Laying a tile floor can be as simple or complex as you want it to be, based on what color layout you’re going to use. A straight, solid-color grid is the standard, but you can mix in other colors in groups or lines to make the floor more interesting. The more complicated your pattern, the more tiles you should lay first without mortar, to make sure it will work visually. Whatever you decide, you should lay out the tiles from the middle of the room, so that any cuts on the edges of the room by the walls are the same on both sides

Drain Cleaning Process

1 – Measure one wall of the room and make a pencil mark at the center of the measurement, on the floor. Do the same on the opposite wall. Stretch your chalk snap line across the room and snap it, laying a line.
2 – Stretch the line between the other two walls at the center. Before you snap it, lay your square at the intersection of the line and previous mark. If the intersection isn’t square, adjust the line until it is, then snap it. You should now have four even squares on the floor.
3 – Set your first tiles on the floor at the intersection of the two lines, using the lines as guides. Don’t mortar them down; just set them in place, with tile spacers between them. Lay a row of tiles in each direction all the way to the wall and judge how big the final piece will be. If it’s going to end in a cut that’s less than 1 inch, then put smaller or larger spacers between the tiles to adjust the layout so you won’t have that small cut. Fill in the entire floor if you are using a more complicated tile pattern.
4 – Begin spreading down thin-set mortar with your notched trowel at the intersection and laying the tiles. Pick up four to six tiles at a time from those you have already placed, spread the mortar on the floor, then immediately set the tiles back into place. Work your way out from the middle toward the walls, using the lines as guides and building the tiles off each other. After all the full tiles are down, go back and make the necessary cuts for the tiles at the edges, using your wet saw.
